Nutrition Education in Meal Planning

Assignment’s description:

In a group of 4, we planned out a nutritional lecture on meal planning for college students using the social cognitive theory we learned in class. We also recorded a 30 minutes video lecture (along with activities and handouts). Lastly, we typed a paper that describes the development of the nutrition education intervention.

What I learned:

I learned how to properly apply a well-known theory into a lesson for a nutrition education intervention. Along the way, I was able to improve my teamwork skills. I took roles that that my fellow peers felt uncomfortable with (ex. recording, editing, and uploading the assignment online) and strived to make our project successful.

Reflection to assignment:

The time in putting all of our assignments together was challenging but very rewarding because our professor selected our project as the best overall nutrition education intervention project in the class. This comes to show how beneficial it is to contribute and work in a team. We all worked together and utilized each of our own special skills in order to make our project effective and flow together for our viewers.

Relevance to the profession:

This project is relevant to the profession of nutrition because it is important to present nutrition lessons in a powerful, effective, and understanding way. By following the steps of these behavior change theories, it can help spark ideas for professionals to use in enlighten their audiences.
