Case Study

Assignment’s description:

This was an introductory project towards a clinical case study. I had to carefully read the background of the case study, interpret lab values, and alternate the diet of the patient. I needed also to able to calculate percentage outcomes and evaluate the patient’s nutritional values. Finally, I had to compare the client’s diet to the 2020 Dietary Guidelines and improve the client’s diet intake.

 

What I learned:

This project taught me to be a detective and to look out for clues in the client’s diet that could play a part in affecting someone’s body. I learned how to use my resources and knowledge from class and apply it into the case study.

 

Reflection to assignment:

This was one of the first case studies I ever worked on, and it showed me the necessary steps and evaluation that a clinical dietitian must take into consideration to help a patient. There was a lot of research, time, and interpretation that needed to be determined within the given information. Therefore, it was necessary for me to reflect on all of my learning in class and apply it into this case study.

 

Relevance to the profession:

I believe that this had a huge connection towards my profession, especially in the field of clinical nutrition because I was determining and correlating on how important nutrients play a role in the human body. It’s very important to know the cause and effect of nutrients in order to help prolong lives.
