Assignment’s description:
In a team of four, our project was to experiment and alter a recipe of our choice. Ingredients were added and removed based on the general public’s preferences. The project consisted of 5 weeks of new alterations to the recipe, 1 taste-testing day for 50 students, an essay paper, and 1 presentation in lab.
What I learned:
Within this particular lab project, I learned a lot about teamwork in a lab setting. This project gave the sense of what it feels like to work in a food development project team. I learned that there’s a lot of trial and error within the process of making the food and that it takes a lot of time and dedication to make a food product meet everyone’s liking. This was a great and interesting project to be in because it taught me to be creative in the food industry.
Reflection to assignment:
The work that my team and I had to go through in order to make our food project successful was a long process. My group and I learned to appreciate the profession of the food developers and food scientist. I’m very fortunate to have gained such a unique experience within the field of food development.
Relevance to the profession:
In the field of nutrition we have a lot of clients that can not consume certain food items thus, making it difficult for them to find the sufficient amount of macro/micronutrients for their body. This project is to show that we can help clients develop new ideas and ways to live their life healthily and content.
